Vincent's biography

If one would summarize Vincent D’Halluin in 1 phrase, there’s a good chance it would be “Can’t we do that in another way?”. It were for sure not his first words. His mother doesn’t remember his first words, but she always refers to the phrase “Penguins are happy”, what Vincent said after seeing penguins in the Antwerp Zoo, who could walk outside during winter instead of staying in a small acclimatized room.

Together with his parents and younger brother, Vincent did as a boy what boys do: play soccer (most boys) and read tons of books (ok, not so many boys). Nobody was surprised when Vincent decided to study literature.

His major achievement as a student was the process of his thesis. Instead of writing about books or authors, he decided to apply his insights on “De Pfaffs”, Belgium’s most famous docu-soap. At first, no professor supported him as studying television was considered as not done, but in the end, it seemed to be a very fresh view on the power of story-telling and is now a case study for all literature students at Ghent University. The belief in this project and the perseverance to realize it, where a milestone in his life.

This era was also important in his personal life, as meeting his girlfriend and wonderful friends were crucial for his happiness and joy. It was also during that time Vincent started organizing an alternative music festival, that took place 5 times. At the last edition, it had become one of Belgium's major alternative music events. The festival has been very important as Vincent has the impression he learnt as much while organizing as by studying.

Soon after finishing University, Vincent started working at N’lil BBDO. For the first time, doing things differently was considered as a plus and not just as ‘difficult’. In his second year, he worked as a strategist on a project for Belgian Minister of Employment and Informatisation Peter Vanvelthoven. The cooperation lead to very good press for the Minister and resulted in a good personal score at the elections. This case also won a Belgian and a European Activation award. It was a very interesting project, but he considers his next project always as his major achievement. Because in advertising, you are only as good as your next campaign!
